Parks // Park Types in Ebbsfleet


Ebbsfleet will include 54 proposed parks when completed. These parks have been categorised into the following types ;

City Parks

A network of 7 landmark ‘city’ parks are proposed in Ebbsfleet, which will provide a range of dramatic and beautiful open spaces to relax, play, exercise and socialise. City parks will form landmark destinations within Ebbsfleet, designed to celebrate Ebbsfleet’s cultural heritage and provide a unique offering within each. This scale of park is likely to attract visitors from further afield, such as wider Kent and London.

Local Parks

Local parks aim to contribute to a sense of ownership and strengthen connections between neighbourhoods. Local parks will be located within and close to residential areas ensuring that they will benefit from passive surveillance near homes. This scale of park is aimed to attract visitors from the surrounding area, including the existing settlements.

Neighbourhood Parks

Neighbourhood parks aim to become a fully embedded space within the local community, with possibly multiple provided in one village. A neighbourhood scale park will serve the local residents and will benefit from good surveillance within homes directly surrounding the space. This scale of park aims to include formal play spaces, community food growing initiatives and places to seat and rest, ensuring it is inclusive for all ages. This scale of park is aimed at attracting residents from the surrounding neighbourhood, within a few minutes walk.

Pocket Parks

Pocket parks are the smallest scale of park within Ebbsfleet, providing opportunities for door step play. This type of space is designed to encourage opportunities for informal play, on the doorstep of homes. These spaces are designed to provide a ‘pocket’ of green space within the heart of communities, for the immediate residents.

Allotments

Allotments aim to be provided in each village to support community food growing initiatives and the ambition to grow food locally. Allotments should allow residents in each village with local food growing opportunities.
